The course, spread over two consecutive weekends, allows those who are busy during the week at school or work to complete the entire programme. Depending on the level of preparation, the course can be either introductory or advanced.
OBJECTIVES:
Learning the basics and techniques for safe sailing by learning the rules of proper sailing: safety, rules, seamanship.
Develop basic knowledge of sailing.
For advanced courses: Improve sailing skills and techniques, introduction to “cruising”.
CONTENTS
Environmental observations: the sea, orientation in relation to location and cardinal points, wind indicators, safety rules, meteorological instruments, wind rose, compass.
The boat: the hull, nomenclature and safety, the sail, windward and leeward, sailing points, tacking and jibing, knots. First approaches to the sport of sailing with rules and short regattas.
For advanced courses: Navigation techniques in strong winds, racing techniques, use of the spinnaker, manoeuvres in port.
